Camshaft Tool
•For Vauxhalls / Opel.
•Remove the rocker cover and locate the warn cam follower.
•Tool aids the removal and replacement of cam followers and camshafts.
•Rotate the engine to compress the valve, now set the height of the tool to sit on the valve clamp to the camshaft housing using the rocker cover bolt in the nearest rocker cover bolt hole.
•Rotate the engine again so the lobe of the camshaft faces upwards leaving the valve compressed.
•The Cam follower can now be removed with a bit of deft finger work, also the hydraulic tappet or impact pad can be removed and replaced if necessary.
•Replace the worn cam follower and rotate the engine again and remove the tool.
•When replacing the follower take care not to dislocate the valve impact pad (you may need a magnetic pick-up tool).
•To change the camshaft, remove all the cam followers in the way mentioned above, No 1 can be left in place clamped down.
•The camshaft is then slid out referring to workshop manual.
•When the new camshaft is in place the cam followers are replaced in the same way except a longer bolt with a nut must be used to compress the valves.
